Common variable immunodeficiency (CVID) is a heterogeneous group of disorders, characterized by decreased serum levels of immunoglobulins and abnormal antibody response to protein and/or polysaccharide antigens, leading to recurrent respiratory and gastrointestinal infections, autoimmunity and malignancies.
